EPICONDYLITIS. This condition is usually caused by a sudden, severe stretch, or prolonged overuse causing a strain to those muscles. The lateral condyle is far more frequently involved than the medial. The onset usually is with a dull pain below the lateral condyle and the soreness radiates downward into the bellies of the extensor muscles. (The triceps is the great extensor muscle of the forearm.) The ache then becomes a sharp pain when the forearm is pronated with the wrist fully extended. (Pressure such as using a screwdriver or playing tennis) will cause severe pain and extreme weakness.
